Study in UK>> Living & Studying Expenses in UK

LIVING AND STUDY EXPENSES IN UK.
There are many options for places to live when you come to the UK, and each of these will vary in cost. If you are planning to come to the UK for University then you will most probably take the Halls of Residence option and these normally start from about £50 per week, moving up to around £80 per week for some larger universities.
But you can always go and find your own accommodation and the best way to do this is get a group of students that you would like to live with. You can then go house hunting and find your own accommodation. The benefit of doing this is that firstly it’s fun to look for a house together and secondly with costs are split and so it can be a much cheaper option. Rents can range from £35/ week upwards depending on accommodation standard.

Home stays generally start from about £100/ week in London and much less if you go outside. Although this looks more expensive then the above mentioned rent you have to consider that this price will be inclusive of meals and all accommodation.

Tuition fees start at £2000 per year at most smaller colleges which run Diploma courses that lead up to a University degree. The better schools will charge up to £5000 and more tuition per year for the above courses and conventional courses.

Universities fees start from £4,000 upwards per year depending on the institution, the level and the type of course. Some institutions give details of the fees they charge on their websites

UK universities generally provide guidance as to how much an international student should expect to spend on living expenses (not including university tuition and college fees). Here is a short representative list to give you a general idea of living expenses:
• University of Liverpool - £5,500 to £7,000 per year
• Essex University - £5,700 to £7,500 per year
• University of Manchester - £8,100 per year
• Oxford University – £9,750 per year
• University of London – approximately £11000 per year.

Working Permission

You are allowed to work while you are studying in the U.K. However the legal amount of time you are allowed to work per week is not enough to cover all your expenses in the U.K. The legal limit for part time work for foreign students in the U.K. is 20 hours per week. During holidays, students are allowed to work 40 hours a week as long as it does not hamper their studies.
